When the home was completely framed we met with the Alpine Homes foreman and walked through the house. He was a nice guy but quickly proved to be full of hot air. I showed him multiple places that the framing was incorrect. Most of the work he said he would fix (I find later he doesn't fix all issues). We came to the dining room. I told him there was a drop ceiling and he assured me it was not on the plans. He told me he had built this same home many times and the drop ceiling was not in the plans. I had been in 3 of the six homes in the area with the same elevation as this one and had seen the drop ceiling for my self. I had also seen pictures of others homes from the MLS also showing the drop ceiling.
At this point I look down at the plans he is holding and it shows the drop ceiling just as I had described. I point it out and all he can say is 'oh'. What a bag of crap this guy turned out to be. Pretty much par for the course though with Alpine Homes. I haven't dealt with anybody that would give me a straight answer, tell me the truth, or do what they say they will do. The foreman was no exception. At least look into the possibility that you may be wrong if a customer sees an inconsistancy.
The good news is that he ended up fixing the missing drop ceiling in the dining room. The bad news is that he failed to fix a bunch of other stuff even after there was a clear instruction of how it was to be done. Sadly after he did it wrong and started the sheetrock there was no turning back and they would not fix anything.
