Walk through day

Today I walked through the home since all the framing was complete.

I did the walk through with the Alpine Homes job foreman today and noticed many things that were not correct. I think this is common and wasn't too concerned. One interaction in particular has me uneasy though. We walked through the dining room and I noticed it was not built correctly with a dropwall/trim area on the ceiling. Every home with the same plan that I walked through had this drop ceiling and faux beam around the dining room. I asked the building foreman about it and he said he had built many of these same homes and he had never seen it done the way I described. He proceeded to show me the plans. Immediately he knew he was caught because the plans showed exactly the way I described. In this moment he decided to choose to lie to me about what he didn't know instead of check. After this questionable response from the foreman I had little faith in his 'confidence' of how the rest of the home was 'supposed' to be.

I pointed out the following items that were not correct with the home:

  1. The exterior doors(garage entry and man door) need to be swapped out for the 3 panel doors.
Side note: Walkthrough indicated that the front door was broken so I expect that will be replaced with a new one.
  2. Add the missing light to the string of lights for the kitchen in the place indicated on walkthrough.
  3. Move the light switch for the bar area lights to the side by the bay window.
  4. Move the light above the nook to the place indicated during the walkthrough.
  5. Finish the area around the ceiling of the dining room as indicated during the walkthrough.
  6. Switch for Christmas light outlets moved to inside the closet per original plans.
  7. Light in master closet moved further in per instructions during walkthrough.
  8. Power outlets in master vanity moved to 45 degree walls as discussed in walkthrough. Outlets were currently where the mirrors would be.
  9. Remove frame for door that heads downstairs as there will be no door there.
  10. Moving the window toward the garage so that it matches the kitchen layout drawing provided by Alpine Homes.
  11. No blower in the gas fireplace
