The Alpine Homes agent Brad Morgan sent me an email and accidentally sent a thread with the Alpine Homes team griping about me. He sent it shortly after I called him about some items I was promised and they were not getting done. Their chatter to each other doesn't give me a whole lot of faith in their desire to do a good job for me.

I looked at some pictures I had taken a couple days ago and noticed Alpine Homes placed the light switches in a precarious spot that is hard to reach.

The initial walk through has prompted me to request some fixes based off of the original contract with Alpine Homes.

Alpine Homes

Alpine Homes LLC is a company that builds homes in Utah. They build developments with a handful of different home plans. They look great on paper but my experience wasn't so great.

I would avoid using this company if at all possible if you want a quality home built here in Utah. Alpine Homes gave me nothing but heart burn. If you have no other choice but to use this company you should get everything in writing. And I mean EVERYTHING. Even down to the hardware hinges on the cabinets that you are expecting. We spent plenty of extra money on the cabinet doors for our home and the hinges are the cheapest thing they could find making my cabinets crooked without the ability to adjust them.(Update: After problems with the cabinets Alpine Homes replaced the hinges and we also found that a bunch of cabinet doors were warped and they warrantied those too) I would suggest getting a copy of the plans so you can see exactly what they plan to do. This is likely going to be the most expensive buy of your life and you really deserve to have some details and assurances. If they don't give them to you then you need to walk out the door. They have used this lack of definition in my experience to their advantage. It doesn't matter what they say to you, even if it is basic things that seem like you don't need them written down. If they do it differently than you discussed, unless it is on paper don't expect them to redo it. Don't be naive and let them tell you that you don't need the extra documentation. You want to know exactly what you are getting or you will not sign the papers.
